Module 1: Six Sigma Basics  

The first module familiarises candidates with the fundamentals of Six Sigma, including its origins, objectives and limitations in a business setting.  Each component of the DMAIC approach to project management - (Define, Measure, Analyse, Improve, Control) – is also discussed, along with the logistics of bringing Six Sigma into an existing project management framework.

Module 2: Project Improvement Tools      

Several essential project improvement tools are presented and discussed in the second module, including but not limited to Cause Effect Diagrams, Histograms, Flowcharts, Scatter Diagrams, Pareto Analysis, Check Sheets and Control Charts.  The primary functions and advantages of each of these project improvement tools are examined, along with the roles they play in a wider project management context.

Module 3: Management Tools for Generating Ideas        

Module three focuses on generating ideas and the primary tools/techniques that can motivate improved idea generation.  Examples of which include multi-voting, consensus-building, the nominal group technique, affinity diagrams and classic brainstorming.  Candidates also learn about nonconformance and quality audits in project management.

Module 4: Continuous Improvement         

Bringing the course to a close, candidates discuss the importance of striving for continuous improvement throughout all stages of the project lifecycle. The DMAIC model is once again brought into discussion, along with some of the more typical challenges that can hinder the pursuit of continuous improvement.
