Module 1 - Introduction to Fashion Design

Course content in Module 4 shifts focus to the four key design principles the fashion designer must consider and fully understand - Emphasis, Balance, Harmony and Repetition.  Once again, each principle is dissected and explored individually, while being considered as an essential fashion design ‘building block’. 

Module 5 - Colour and Dress Designing

The basics of dress design follow in Module 5, which also guides candidates through the fundamentals of effective colour choice/use.  The specifics of how and why certain colours do and do not build cohesion is explored, along with how colour impacts the overall effect of any given garment.

Module 6 - Choosing the Right Material

How to choose the right material in accordance with the requirements of any given fashion project forms the core focus of Module 6.  Candidates are introduced to a variety of standard and nonstandard fabrics, along with the properties, advantages and specific challenges of each respectively.  Course content also outlines dying, testing and use of makeup.

Module 7 - Sewing Basics

Closing the course, Module 7 provides an important introduction to sewing basics and the most essential sewing techniques the contemporary fashion designer relies upon.  Along with safe hand-stitching practices and effective seam-sewing, candidates are guided through professional sewing studio equipment, tools and associated resources.
